Solo: A Star Wars Story — the fourth Star Wars installment produced by Disney and the second standalone film in the “Anthology” saga — is set for release in just four months time. This may come as a surprise considering no trailer or official stills have been released, but at least Lucasfilm has now put out a plot summary for the film, suggesting that it may actually arrive on time after all.
“Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”
Okay, so that really doesn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know but hey, it’s something.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is directed by Ron Howard (and Phil and Chris Miller?) and stars Alden Ehrenreich as the titular scoundrel, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
It apparently comes out on May 25. I still think it’s going to be pushed back but maybe the release of this plot summary is Lucasfilm’s way of saying “Oh yeah, we have a new Star Wars movie coming out in four months. Maybe we should start actually advertising it.”
