Vin Diesel Calls ‘Furious 7’ Ending The “Best Moment In Cinematic History”

During a recent interview with NME to discuss the release of his new film Bloodshot – now playing in theatres – Vin Diesel discussed the tragic passing of his friend Paul Walker and how emotionally draining it was to shoot the final scene in Furious 7 without him.

“It was a very tough moment. But there was some solace in the fact that we were able to protect from the natural whim of a producer or anyone to say, ‘Well now you’re going to go avenge the character,’ and use it as a plot and we were able to do something so beautiful and so classy.”

The actor went on to explain how Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth “See You Again” set the stage for one of the most emotional and iconic moments in cinematic history.

“might be the best moment in cinematic history. Not just in my career but in cinematic history,” Diesel said. “Men around the world, everyone was able to cry, but men around the planet for the first time in history were able to cry together.”

For those less familiar, in the closing moments of the seventh installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, using Paul Walker’s two brothers, Caleb and Cody, as stand-ins, Dom and Brian ride alongside each other one last time before splitting at a fork in the road and going their separate ways. Regardless of whether you’re a fan of the series or not, the actor’s comments are 100% correct. The scene truly is exceptional, and though it might not be the most memorable moment in cinematic history, to him, it is, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
