WWE Smackdown Match Results – August 9th, 2016 Source:

Smackdown may still be the #2 show in a lot of ways, but that just means they’ll have to try harder! Could Smackdown bounce back this week after some less-than-stellar offerings post-Draft? Here’s the results of this week’s show!

Live from Bakersfield, California

Bray Wyatt (with Erick Rowan) cut a promo about Dolph Ziggler doing everything to keep his #1 contender spot, and declaring that it was “Bray Wyatt vs The World”, which was interrupted by Dean Ambrose. A brawl ensued, and Dolph Ziggler ran in, superkicked Ambrose (allegedly by accident), then Rowan, before Bray hit Ziggler with Sister Abigail.

– American Alpha defeated Mikey O’Shea and Mike Vega (Gable pinned Vega, Grand Amplitude)

The Ascension, The Vaudevillains and The Hype Bros came to ringside to watch American Alpha’s match. A four-way brawl broke out after the finish, with American Alpha clearing the ring.

– Becky Lynch vs Eva Marie didn’t take place after Eva suffered a wardrobe malfunction and ran to the back. Becky issued an open challenge, which was answered by Alexa Bliss.

– Alexa Bliss defeated Becky Lynch (pinfall, Twisted Bliss)

Becky was distracted when Eva Marie made her entrance for a second time mid-match.

– Randy Orton defeated Alberto Del Rio by DQ when Del Rio used a chair. Orton hit Del Rio with an RKO after the match.

– Rhyno defeated Heath Slater (pinfall, Gore), denying Slater a contract with Smackdown

– Carmella defeated Natalya (submission, leg choke)

Natalya once again tried to ambush Carmella during her entrance, but was denied.

A video package aired detailing the feud between John Cena and AJ Styles. A match between the two was made official for SummerSlam.

Backstage, Baron Corbin beat up Kalisto for costing him a shot at the Intercontinental title last week.

– Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose defeated Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan (Ziggler pinned Rowan, Superkick)

After the match, Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds on Ziggler as payback for earlier in the evening.
