Game of Thrones

New ‘Games of Thrones’ Actor Angers Fans by Mocking Show and Casually Dropping Huge Spoilers Via

Warning: This post has so, so many spoilers. You’ve been warned!

Game of Thrones has one of the most rapid fan bases, when it comes to devotion to a television show. However, one of the newest cast members doesn’t really care about the show’s elaborate backstory or complex universe.

Ian McShane, who most people would recognize as the amazing villain Al Swearengen from the now-defunct HBO series Deadwood, has been confirmed to appear is the upcoming season six of Game of Thrones. Although his character hasn’t been officially revealed, most people were able to guess when he dropped this description in an interview.

“My character is an ex-warrior who has become a peacenik. So, I have this group of peaceful… sort of a cult, a peaceful tribe. I bring back a much loved character who everyone thinks is dead.”

Book readers quickly put two and two together and guessed that McShane will be playing Septon Meribald, the man who eventually helps resurrect Sandor “The Hound” Clegane after he was left for dead. All of this is speculative, of course, but that didn’t stop fans from expressing their typical outrage for the leaked details.

But McShane don’t care.

In an interview with The Telegraph, he was asked about the negative reaction and he doubled down, mocking die hard fans and dropping another potentially huge spoiler, indicating his character might not last very long.

“You say the slightest thing and the internet goes ape. I was accused of giving the plot away, but I just think get a f*cking life. It’s only t*ts and dragons.”

“They asked me if I wanted to do Game of Thrones, and I said, ‘Sure, I’ll be able to see my old pals Charlie Dance and Stephen Dillane’ and they said, ‘No, we’ve killed them off.’ I wasn’t sure whether I could commit, but then they said it would only be for one episode, so I said, ‘So that means I must die at the end of it. Great, I’m in.’ “

At least he’ll be free to star in that much-talked-about Deadwood movie.
